I recently came across an article that talked about how near infrared light is a new wave of imaging technology to help doctors better understand the areas of the body that are the most diseased. I have to admit, I’m excited about the possibilities this has opened up for the future and how this technology is changing the way we look at disease.
Maybe it’s an apt description, but it’s a bit of a stretch to say the least. I like to think that it’s possible to create an image with near infrared light and use that as a diagnostic tool in the body. I like to think that this technology is changing the way we look at disease.
The idea behind near infrared light is that it can be used to identify diseased tissue in the body, even in the dead. What makes near infrared light possible is that it can penetrate the tissue at a much deeper depth than infrared light. This may sound like a science fiction or even a medical science fiction movie, but that’s not the case at all. The technology actually exists and is working with some of the best surgeons currently working in the world.
In a sense, we are not just looking at diseased tissue with our eyes. Rather our brains process and analyze the light coming from our eyes. This is why we may see a red object when someone has a cold but with the light coming from their eyes we may not notice anything. This also allows you to see clearly what is actually in front of you.
The fact that the light from the eyes can allow us to see the object ahead is an excellent example of how the brain works – we can “see” with our eyes and our brain can then take the information from our eyes and place it in our brain and make us see what is actually there. In essence, we look at the light coming from our eyes and see what we’re looking at, instead of the object.
The problem is that if you were going to use another computer or other device with this purpose, you might have to go to the remote control and type in the time-lapse image for the time-lapse video image you’re going to use to get more information from the computer.
